| "Winter Storm"
"The ever vigilant lighthouse beams it's
light far out to sea as a warning to mariners of the treacherous rocks
and cliffs that could spell disaster in the midst of a 'winter storm'."
ARTIST COMMENT Another in the series of "storm" paintings, this oil on stretched canvas is typical of the scenes I have observed on the Oregon coast. With Yaquina Head lighthouse in the distance, I wanted to show the slashing angle of storm clouds moving in. The sea is churning furiously againt the rocks at the base of the headland, sending foam into the wind, while rippling swells elbow each other into position as the next wave relentlessly moves toward shore. However, as in all my paintings, there is a place of restful peace. This is the presence of the ever vigilant lighthouse beaming safety to any passing ships.
