"The Sea At Sunset"

"One of the best memories of a day on the beach is without a doubt the glow of sunset on the waves and in the sky at the perfect moment when the sun skims the edge of 'the sea at sunset'."

ARTIST COMMENT
My sunset oil paintings on stretched canvas range from dark and dramatic to light and cheery.  Each is an accurate representation of the many scenes I have observed while spending time on the Pacific coast of Washington, Oregon and California, as well as the island of O'ahu.  I have been on the East coast of Florida to see my entire image of the sunset "reversed".  East or West, the golden sunsets are a wondrous event to behold.  In this oil on stretched canvas, the whole length of a rolling breaker is captured, just as the sun pauses on the horizon for an instant before plunging below the edge of the world.  Since there were no rocks to depict, the entire scene was accomplished with smooth strokes of a bristle brush.
