"'On a clear day' at the edge of the sea, you truly can see 'forever'."
Artist comment: "I am always intrigued by the many moods of the ocean. Living here in the northwest coastal area of Washington State, I am just minutes from this magnificent obsession! I have painted the Pacific ocean for over 40 years and never tire of it! There are wondrous grey, misty days (yes, even weeks) punctuated by glorious days of sunshine and sparkle! Would I trade living here for anything? Emphatically, never! In this oil on canvas, I have portrayed my impression of the qualities I love of the sea. I started with a blue sky bringing that blue throughout the piece. Then I put in the headlands from light to dark with a couple of dark rocks to 'punch' the foreground, then a major wave with translucency and frothy splashes. The last touch was to paint the patterns formed by floating foam."
