"Morning Surf"
"The sky is still overcast but clearing
as wave after wave rolls to shore on the 'morning surf'. Soon skies will
be blue and the day will stretch out before you to enjoy."
ARTIST COMMENT The morning sunlight presents a whole other set of circumstances for painting the sea in oil. The light causes soft milky green translucencies in the building waves. With the effect of light shining over your left shoulder, the shadows are nearly non-existent. I placed delicate foam patterns that trace the curve of the swells, glowing with the bright light of a new day. This scene is repeated often off the Washington Coast where the long sandy beaches are nearly rock free. To learn more about the artist "painting the sea", please click here.
