| "Mid-Tide"
"Is the tide incoming or outgoing?
Whatever the case may be, the surf is tossing spray into the air as seagulls
swoop low to feed and play. Floating foam resembles antique lace
on the face of the rising swells. The sea is fascinating at it's
mid-tide."
ARTIST COMMENT I had so much fun with the painting of "...And Heaven Too", that I wanted to do a companion piece in the same size and shape. This time I focused more on the center of the action, a close-up of just a portion of the wave. From my over thirty years of observing and painting the sea, I knew instinctively how the water would move, and fall. I did this one from my memory, as is my customary approach. To me, except for the shape of the stretched canvas, this oil is a classic. To learn more about the artist "painting the sea", please click here.
