| "Glorious Sunset"
"You have spent a wonderful day at the beach and reluctantly turn to leave but are captured again by the awesome beauty of a 'glorious sunset'."
ARTIST COMMENT The title of this oil painting on stretched canvas, says it all. The sky, clouds and sea were rendered with smooth brushwork, while the rocks were placed with dashing strokes of palette knife, thus depicting the rugged shapes and formidable feeling of endurance that the volcanic flows have exhibited from eons ago. I chose dramatic dark colors to play up the brilliance of the setting sun. The glow on the horizon is not from the sun itself, but from the vivid clouds just above it. The setting is reminiscent of one of many roadside turn-offs along the Oregon coast where I spent hours watching the waves, to be, finally, rewarded by the glory of a beautiful sunset.
