"From Ecola At Sunset"

"What a rare and wondrous treat to be in Ecola Park near Cannon Beach, Oregon, when a lazy summer day ends in a burst of purple, red, and gold.  As the sun slowly sinks, you cling to the beauty of the scene 'from Ecola at sunset'."

ARTIST COMMENT
What could be more enjoyable than watching a sunset fill the scene with vibrant evening color?  Well, for me, this was a magical moment.  With sketch book in hand, I hastily made notes and quick reference drawings, before turning once again to watch the awesome beauty unfold before me.  Later, in my studio, I painted this watercolor on 140# Arches hot-pressed watercolor paper.  The cool pinks, greens and purples of the sky, headlands and water, play up the deep rich brown in the foreground rocks.  As is my custom, I employed a "Z" composition to keep the viewer's eye moving easily through the picture.
