"You can see in the posture and intensity of the stopped action that this is 'a serious clammer'."
Artist comment: "I have a new 'passion' and it is digging for, researching, and painting razor clams, and the people and circumstances involved in this pastime. In this scene I have focused on an individual who is totally 'into' (up to his elbow!) getting his clam. Isolated from any group, he has found his first one of the day. On grey toned Canson Mi-Teintes textured paper, I sketched with soft pastel, the composition, keeping in mind the elements of design and balance, as well as the horizontals, to accent the main subject. Beginning with the background, I painted the sky and water. The clammer was a delight to complete. I saved the warm accents for the 'icing on the cake!'."
