"The brilliant sunset creates a glow on a line of clouds reflecting down onto 'a colorful sea'."
Artist comment: "I strive for realism in my seascape paintings. Sometimes the reality of the scene is so awesome it may seem unreal! This oil painting on canvas depicts such a moment. Beginning with the sky, I painted the yellows, gold, and orange and immediately brought those colors into the water to show the troughs between swells. Then I rendered the greens of waves and the translucencies. I put a rugged rock on the right by using a palette knife. When I painted the big splash I was counter balancing the major wave as I kept in mind a zig-zag (or'Z') composition. The last step was to paint the ever present foam patterns on the surface of the sea and the inevitable runoff on the rocks. A few bright highlights from a late day sun was the 'icing on the cake!"
