"Point Robinson Lighthouse" by Carol Thompson

"The Point Robinson Light Station on the Northeast corner of Maury Island, Washington, can be reached by ferry and car or bicycle. It's light and foghorn are invaluable for vessels, due to the many days and nights of dense fog. It began service in July, 1885 and was automated in 1978. The Coast guard still maintains the grounds and keeps the light and fog signal operating."

Artist comment:  "Take the ferry from Tacoma to Maury Island and spend time in the sun and soft breezes with a picnic lunch at this lovely small light station.  This oil painting on canvas is one of a series of Northwest lighthouses (and stations).  I painted the sky, headland, and foreground features, then proceeded with the building and its' decorative elements.  The flag was my final touch -- the icing on the cake."
