"Lady Of The North Wind" by Carol Thompson

Lady Of The North Wind

"She stands silent and serene, ever vigilant. Her light never dims. she is the graceful lady who remains faithful to guide ship and crew safely home in all kinds of weather. she is the lighthouse: the 'Lady of the North Wind'."

Artist comment:  "The 'lady of the north wind' was an interesting quirk that happened in the process of painting this piece.  On the right hand side, a cloud appears to be a woman with long flowing hair, blowing (or whistling).  Since the painting faces northward, it seemed a 'natural' to call it the 'Lady Of The North Wind'.  The title is also appropriate for the lighthouse itself, truly a great 'lady'.  This is an oil painting on canvas.  I sketched the composition with gray oil paint, then painted the sky with clouds.  Then I carefully rendered the lighthouse and building, finishing with the grass in the foreground."
