"It is early winter and snow blankets the mountains and lowlands. As the sun sinks lower, a glow sets the 'snowy mountains' ablaze with color."
ARTISTS COMMENTS
"One of my favorite types of paintings is what I call Impressionistic Luminism. This piece was painted with gouache on 140# hot pressed watercolor paper, illustrating how a thick brushful of pure gouache paint can simulate oil or acrylic. The medium can be vibrant and glowing as seen here in the snowy mountains surrounded by the rich warms of a setting winter sun. I used a zig-zag composition to lead the viewer's eye through the painting to the far away blue roofed buildings, on to the mountain tops, and back again."
