"Cabrillo Fence"

"Walking down the paved road to the lighthouse at Point Cabrillo near Mendocino, California, one of the familiar scenes is a tumbled down fence that at one time proudly kept the pasture land contained."

ARTIST COMMENT Visiting lighthouses along the pacific coast, from Canada to California, I have enjoyed the scenery surrounding the structure. Here I have chosen to depict an old delapidated weathering fence, in a romantic, colorful setting. The scene is on the long footpath leading to the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse. Rendering the elements in pastel on Canson Mi Tientes, brought the memory of a pleasant afternoon flooding back.
