"The sun rises early on a summer day to find the sky already full of billowing kites and eager participants tethered to them along the sandy beach. It is a 'kite festival' weekend in Lincoln City, Oregon, with good wind, clear skies, happy people, and colorful creations of light weight fabric and frames."
ARTIST COMMENT
“A kite festival is a wonderful opportunity for you to see artistic flying creations from all around the world. The contests and displays can be seen in various towns and cities around the country. This occasion was several years ago in Lincoln City, Oregon. To create an interesting composition, I chose some of the biggest and brightest displays. In my studio, I painted this oil on stretched linen canvas, and endeavored to recreate the pleasant day with people flying a variety of kites."
