ARTIST'S COMMENTS
"One of the most prolific of the many irises in my garden is this softly lavender colored beauty. Not only does she honor me with multitudes of flowers, but they last longer than any of the other irises. In this watercolor, I sketched a triangle composition with the largest bloom at the top in the natural manner of growth of the plant. I used 140# hot-pressed paper and carefully sketched the composition, keeping in mind balance and good design, while holding true to the nature of the iris. The leaves at the bottom, anchor the weight of blossoms. As a finishing touch, I formed drops of water on some of the petals, giving the painting the feel of a fresh new morning".

Carol Thompson's personal garden is the subject of this series of watercolor paintings entitled "Carol's Garden". These florals are inspired by the many hours of pleasure received from working the rich soil, nurturing the seedlings, and admiring the fragrant blossoms. Her garden is her getaway, a place to clear her mind; to daydream, a place to get in touch with nature, and a place to think, plan, and just relax.
