"One Dogwood Bloom"

"Whether viewed in abundant masses or singled out as 'one dogwood bloom', this lovely Spring favorite is most welcome in the yards and gardens of may locales."

ARTIST COMMENT
This small watercolor on Arches 140# hot-pressed watercolor paper, and "Single Dogwood Blossom"  were created to be companion pieces to "Pink Dogwood".  They are part of a series of florals exploring the beauty of the pink dogwood tree in my back yard.  Here I had the opportunity to examine a single flower close up.  The composition is simple, concentrating on the detail of the blossom, and its surrounding leaves.  As is my custom, I painted a background in a contrasting color to play up the intensity of the subject.

Carol Thompson's personal garden is the subject of this series of watercolor paintings entitled "Carol's Garden". These florals are inspired by the many hours of pleasure received from working the rich soil, nurturing the seedlings, and admiring the fragrant blossoms. Her garden is her getaway, a place to clear her mind; to daydream, a place to get in touch with nature, and a place to think, plan, and just relax.
