"Daisies"

"'Daisies' dance and sparkle in any gentle breeze that tickles their waiting faces.  Whether in small clumps or huge sweeps of white, everyone deserves a daisy."

ARTIST COMMENT
This medium sized watercolor on Arches 140# hot-pressed watercolor paper, is another in my series of daisies.  Although I enjoy painting the individual blooms, I totally delight in creating a mass of white blossoms that overlap and nudge each other for space.  This piece is designed in an "S" composition, with the subject starting at the upper right quadrant of the painting, and flowing in a curving manner through the center to the lower right.  There your eye is engaged by the flash of orange, before continuing along the three strong flowers at the bottom, and back up to the dainty blooms at the top edge of the piece.  The darkest darks back up the subject in a "reverse S ".

Carol Thompson's personal garden is the subject of this series of watercolor paintings entitled "Carol's Garden". These florals are inspired by the many hours of pleasure received from working the rich soil, nurturing the seedlings, and admiring the fragrant blossoms. Her garden is her getaway, a place to clear her mind; to daydream, a place to get in touch with nature, and a place to think, plan, and just relax.
