"More Daisies"

"Some daisies are large and single petalled, some short and compact like multi-petalled drifts of snowy white.  However you see them, 'more daisies' are always welcome in any setting."

ARTIST COMMENTS
In this small watercolor on Arches 140# hot-pressed watercolor paper, I arranged the three blooms in the center of the piece in a modified "triangle" composition.  The angle of light is low and from the right, to produce deep blue-purple shadows on the backsides of the flowers.  There is no mistaking the subject of the painting.  All three blossoms have equal weight, to delight your eye as you wander from one to the other, exploring all the details of each.  The design is to "divide" the painting into thirds by subtlely changing the value of the background as it passes behind the subject.

Carol Thompson's personal garden is the subject of this series of watercolor paintings entitled "Carol's Garden". These florals are inspired by the many hours of pleasure received from working the rich soil, nurturing the seedlings, and admiring the fragrant blossoms. Her garden is her getaway, a place to clear her mind; to daydream, a place to get in touch with nature, and a place to think, plan, and just relax.
