"Harbinger" by Carol Thompson
"The 'Harbinger' is the one who announces
the arrival of an event. A fitting title for this hardy daffodil
as it nods its head to acknowledge the arrival of Spring."
Artist comment: "Harbinger" was created at the same time as "The King".
The triangle composition repeats a (nearly) mirror image of "The
King". It is another small watercolor painting on Arches 140# watercolor
paper. However, it has strength to stand on its own as a unique painting.
The sunlight angle is high and to the right, casting shadows on the petals,
yet shining through them to light up the shaded areas, (as observed in
the trumpet). I kept the background a cool combination of blue and
purple to compliment the bright yellow of the flowers."
"Harbinger" is a 7"
X 5" original watercolor painting on 140# Arches watercolor paper.
